A born to be alive good morning to each and all, and a wink and a smile to this beautiful new day, today, that we are, as always, excited to dance with any chance we get.
Rest! We all need rest, our minds, bodies, and souls, from time to time. Sometimes lots and sometimes just a little, it all depends on the situation, which as we have long said, situation always dictates.
After running from the cold, we finally found good weather in Las Vegas and after all those miles we just wanted to stop and relax for a while. After some work, and a little info from a clerk at the gas station, we were able to secure a spot where we could sit and stay for at least a month or more if we so choose. Although there are RV Parks everywhere, Nevada plays a ten (10) year rule, which shows you how popular they are as a destination for RVers. They want all newer models and won’t even consider anything older than ten (10} years because they don’t have to. Every park has a waiting list for monthly spots. Nevada seems to want those of us with older models, and ours is older than many at 1992, to keep on rolling. lol
We may be fairly new, still in our first year of RV living, but we brought years of survival to our adventure and we refuse to do the nightly or weekly routine. If an RV Park won’t let you stay for the monthly price, which is really the only price worth it, then they don’t deserve any of your money. With our discounts we can get $34 – $45 per night or $150 – $250 per week across the country at most RV Parks, but the monthly rate at those same parks is $350 – $500, a huge difference. We go from rest areas and truck stops and parking lots, which cost us nothing, to a monthly, that’s it. With wheels under our house, which, the RV is running great by the way, there is no reason to pay more than we have to when we can just move!
We found a spot though, so for at least a month we’ll enjoy the weather and stay in Las Vegas. After that we may actually head to Slab City in Cali for a month or two, we’ll see. We’ve done our research and are somewhat already familiar with Slab City. You can’t beat the price, FREE, and we certainly would not have any trouble with the lawlessness of it, we’re pretty safety and security oriented. Just a thought, we’ll look into it, and have at least a month to do so.
In the meantime, we’re settling in comfortably. We’re within walking distance of everything and anything and are starting our walks around, safety and security, we do ever larger concentric circles, or blocks if needed, and like to know what is around us that we perhaps should be aware of. Las Vegas is a huge tourist mecca, so it’s pretty easy to not be noticed and to stay out of the way. We have access to supplies, food and other, all within a mile or so of our location, even recreational marijuana dispensaries, in one direction or another, so we are quite happy with our location. We get to sit quietly out of the way, have wifi and phone service, and get to walk every day in good weather and can grab anything we might need along the way. We usually walk in the morning and then again at night once the day time heat starts to taper off.
We knew gambling was legal in Nevada but we have seen legal gambling before, but this is cray cray. There is gambling everywhere here! You can’t walk into a convenience store or gas station without seeing someone sitting at a machine. We even see signs advertising “Penny Slots”, which explains the ominous feeling all about. The draining of money! We’ve already been asked several times if we had come “to donate”, which is what the local, long timers, call it, many of which who followed that up with how they had already “given them” enough or all they had…
Nope, just passing through, we’re here for the weather! Right now it’s low 80’s, high 70’s during the day and 50’s at night. We may or may not “check it out”, the gambling on the Strip itself, but to us it’s just a nice place to observe people, always fun, and a good walk.
The clients are all happy and we’ve been busy with work, all is well there. Our son is finishing his training and will be headed to Nebraska by week’s end, all is well there. We spoke to our mother and they will be heading to Florida soon, all is well there. Morning, noon, and night we send our love and light to Dulcinea, all is well there.
Well, we should get back to settling in. We want to get in a walk before it gets hot, we’ve already gotten a sock line tan at our ankles in just a few days, lol, so we’re glad we didn’t get here sooner when it was hotter, and then we’ve a busy day of work to get at this day, today.
Peace
